I’m not sure how long the purge phase is, I tried 20% for a few weeks and it broke me out but not in an irritation way. No redness, dryness, peeling, etc. I quit using it cause I started on tretinoin. I think it’s normal for it to tingle/itch on your face but that can be minimized by making your skin as dry as possible when u apply it. Make sure it’s not wet with water, moisturizer, etc

Only if your skin is completely adjusted to the tretinoin. I use salicylic acid and Tret 0.05% and it works fine for me but I’ve been on tret for 10 months.

If you add in another active ingredient introduce it slowly (start with 1-2 nights a week, move up if you react well) and focus on hydration/moisturizing your skin.
