L, G, and B describe sexual orientation (who you’re attracted to), while T describes gender identity (who you are). These are fundamentally different categories. A gay person and a bisexual person are defined by attraction; a transgender person may be straight, gay, bisexual, or anything else. Therefore, grouping “T” with sexual orientations mixes two separate concepts and can make the acronym less logically consistent.
