got bruises whilst bonesmashing and was almost called out for it

what the actual fuck do i do to avoid bruises? after bonesmashing my zygos they swell which looks great but how tf do i avoid bruising?

very very annoying problem that almost fucked me over, as someone at college told me "it looks like you've been bonesmashing or something". obviously i keep an NT mask and made that sound impossible for someone like me but seriously dude what is the method here??
