I'm going back to work tomorrow. I'll be wearing mask waiting for the swelling to go away completely. I still have to be prepared to react if they notice my genioplasty.

If I have to confess, I would say I did it for sleep apnea. That's the only valid excuse, right?
  • How to react if they say "You look different..."?
They notice that something has changed but can't name it. Should I deny it or should I say upfront that I had surgery? Won't this be weird if I first deny but then they eventually correctly identify that my chin has been moved forward? I would have no choice but to confess, the fact that I denied it at the beginning will make me look insecure about it, and they will know that I did it for aesthetics.

  • How to react if they say "Your chin looks different..."?
In this case they immediately identify that my chin has been changed but don't know exactly why. If they start scrutinizing me, they will remarks my chin has been moved forward and I will have no choice but to confess.

  • How to react if they say "OMG what happened to your chin?!"?
If they clearly recognize a very noticable change in my chin. I won't be able to deny it. I'll have to explain upfront that I had surgery, right?

Also should I lie about doing it for medical reason like sleep apnea? Is it even credible? Surely they'll have doubt as they know I'm a low confidence nerd. Should I be clear that I'm doing it as a step to fix my sub-humanity and that I don't care about what they think?

Fuck. Too many scenarios. Those who have already had surgery: what did you tell your family and friends? For those who have had surgery, what was it like to return to your job?

Just tell them you started lifting weights. Normies perceive wider jaws and bigger chins and you being physically stronger.

Never tell anyone you got the surgery even for supposed “medical reasons”. Just deny everything and act oblivious.

yeah tell them its weight loss. if they know you got surgery , AND they found out its cosmetical, its over . you'll be perceived worse than before you got it. make it sound as natural as possible

How to react if they say "OMG what happened to your chin?!"?
you can still tell them you had non hodgkin lymphoma (its only buldging masses WITHOUT swelling or discoloration) untreated for 3 years and you just got it out and it left a lump of skin and fat tissue , so the doctor had to reintact it with medical titanium mesh.

pray they dont find out that NH lymphoma cant appear in chins :lul:

Thanks guys for your advice.

Unfortunately, I can't say I lost weight because I'm already very lean. Maybe I could say I gained weight, though.

At some point I'll need to remove it.

Not perfect but still infinitely better than having a recessed chin.

Tell them you are swollen from an orthodontic procedure like extractions. By the time the swelling goes down, no one will notice, unless you got a massive movement. I got 5mm advancement and my own parents didn't even notice.

deny deny deny and make it seem like a medical issue
This is the only right answer. People don't know shit about genioplasti or whatever nor will they suspect.

Just tell The truth. No one in school asked anything about My bimax since we werent friends. People dont care at All unless you Are friends with them. I literally just told "Yo im having jaw surgery tomorrow, gonna Be away from school For 4 weeks." I was in trade school at The moment

It will be over for you if you do
Just say u started lifting and losing weight

I tried to grow a beard to divert attention but it was extremely ugly and patchy. I'm not sure it helped.

My father told my chin looked thinner and my sister said it looked longer. They talked about surgery but I made a joke and then changed the subject of discussion. I didn't see my mother until several months after the procedure, so she didn't notify my chin had changed, she just told I looked good. Some people told I looked tanned, I guess it's just their brain trying to find a rationale explanation about why I looked better.

Overall, people didn't really pay attention. But it should be noted that the advancement was only 6 mm horizontally, so very subtle.

Thanks for the reply. I am planning to get genio soon although in my case the advancement would be like 10mm so I am trying to think what I would say if someone notices. I had one more question if you don't mind. After how much time does the swelling goes away completely or at least isn't noticeable? I am planning to work remotely for 3 weeks after surgery and I'll go back to office then. Is 3 weeks enough for the swelling to go away and return to normal state like nothing happened?

If they notice just say you had orthognathic surgery due to breathing issues

Yes, 3 weeks is more than enough. Your chin will still be a bit swollen, but nothing noticeable from the outside. It's just that it will continue to get thinner in the coming weeks/months.

10 mm will be definitely more noticeable that my 6 mm advancement, so you might get more reactions than I did. Try not to show yourself too much in side profile and avoid long face-to-face conversations, so that people will gradually get used to the change.

I think most people don't care or don't notice about chin change, especially in the workspace. Try to find a good excuse just in case, but you should be fine.

I wish you the best for your surgery, and I hope you will be satisfied with the result. (y)
