This has proven to be true in my experience time and time again. Best and most fulfilling friendships spring from overdramatized hatred.

I made out with a girl of a dude at a party when i was blackout drunk many years back (she was sober and used me). We were in the same school with her bf so a lot of tension and everyday he wanted to fight me despite me telling him it wasn't intended. I didn't want to engage in it with this poor guy because i knew i had done a shitty thing so just tried to avoid him and all, but i also hated this mf for not understanding that it wasn't my fault and making life harder for me month after month so i grew resentful. He eventually stopped hating me after he accepted that his gf was a cheating slut and forgave me.

He turned out to be the single greatest most compatible friend i've ever had and now many years later i still think about him everyday and cherish how he was the only person i've truly felt understood by.

I can think of at least 4 different but similar situations where an overexaggerated beef has blessed me with unbelieveably fulfilling friendships. Becoming close after beefing just hits different, it produces a different type of bond. It's legit. I don't know if it's a weird string of coincidences but every single time this has proven to be correct and always connected me with amazing people.

A competitive rivalry turned into mutual respect, perhaps? Sports players is one example
They aren't real enemies. Especially these days. Shit example
