I've never heard the term "tanned" to refer to anyone east of Greece. I only hear the terms "brown". It's because people believe utterly absurd "racial myths". Nope, genetics are still clinal. That's not how things work. The arbitrary border between Greece and Turkey DOES NOT and CAN NOT create a "racial border". On top of "race" being an ill-defined, non-meaningful concept, boundaries are fluid and in the case of Greece/Turkey does not create large genetic changes. Greeks and Turks are not identical and do have notable aspects of difference, but genetic differences between Greeks and Turks are smaller than that between Finns and Estonians yet the latter are often lumped together just because their languages are mutually intelligible despite the genetic distance between Finns and Estonians being roughly the same as the distance between Sicilians and Syrians. Is there a "racial barrier" between the Gulf of Finland?

In any case, Greeks (as well as Southern Italians) and Turks have a similar average skin tone. It's not due to "tanning". Rather, it's due to a variety of complex genetics.

Just as a question. There are lighter skinned Greeks/Italians who live in the same cities as their "tanned" brethren. WHY AREN'T THEY TANNED?!? 🙄

As soon as an obviously ethnic is European everyone claims him as white. It’s so stupid, they know they are brown but don’t want to admit it.
