Growing thicker facial hair using minoxidil

I have really thin and patchy facial hair and im considering getting minoxidil. Topical or oral? and what are the possible side effects of each i should keep in mind?

i dont have cats and i dont plan on getting any. Which is better between the 2?

I can only speak for topical, but as someone who could already grow a somewhat thick beard, topical minoxidil(applied exclusively to my temples) made my beard grow back much faster after shaving. It also made me start growing more hair in places that previously had none, like higher on my cheeks.
I've noticed zero side effects beyond that, personally.
