You can't confirm whether you're plates are open or not by you're age alone.

Since i am still a teen, my growth plates have yet to close. The only true way to really find out if you still have gotten some growth in you is to get an x ray.

THIS is a hand x ray of someone whose growth plates haven't yet fully closed (you can see them)
