Gta 5 used to mog so hard. I remember buying it 1 day after launch in 2013 and was waiting hard for online to come out. Story mode was top tier as usual ofc.
In the first week online was completely broken, unplayable. But when you could get in, you would walk around and take in the experience around you. It was revolutionary. A massive in game world with a currency system and custom characters. It was all for the taking.
By the time they fixed it the money hacks came out and everyone was a billionaire. I ofc took part in that and got max rank + max cash and splurged hard. Bought luxury everything and filled out max upgrades for guns/ cars. Rockstar cracked down so hard and most ppl lost everything. I lost all the cash and kept some rank (level 150)
when they moved the game to the current gen of consoles now (ps4/Xbox one), everyone was hyped for the graphics upgrade and they indeed delivered. More stable and nice. Then they added heists a few months later and I remember ppl would grind for hours with their niggas on that shit.
By 2016 they started adding the big updates and I moved to Pc. Was fun af. In 2017 they launched the biggest update ever and it was the beginning of the end (Gunrunner update. If you were a gtacel, you’ll know about this)
rockstar turned to cash grabbing and mogged Jews when it came to pinching u for more money. Everything required cash And was expensive af. A mask would cost 100-300k

in late 2017 they ruined it and added the orbital cannon. So now, someone could kill you regardless of any structure you were in. Ppl would glitch the system so they got cash for killing you (750k a shot).
So I quit around December 2017. Never could get back into it. It sucked. Idk why they became so aggressive in their money generating tactics. It went from passive to invasive. Before they would give you the options for micro transactions but alongside it, would let you grind money fast. So you had a choice. Grind, or take a shortcut.
By 2017 you needed millions to even unlock the weapons upgrades and then had to pay 40-300k to put the upgrade on your weapon. Then they made the grinding methods either absolute shit or outright impossible to do. So you were forced to buy micro transactions or rot your entire life away on gta doing repetitive tasks for small amounts of money.
Ever since 2017 they added a Bunch of stupid updates that I have not kept track of. Apparently they added casinos and night clubs now (Another money pit.)
I had hope for RDR 2 online but from what I’ve heard, it was a flop. Not surprising tbh. Rockstar managed to milk gta 5 from 2013 till now and had the balls to reveal gta 5 on the ps5 during the PlayStation Conference.
It is what it is. GTA 5 for me is just one example of why I quit vidya. Rapid decline in quality, rapid increase in the cost to experience the game in a fun way. Not worth it.
Does anyone here still play?
