[GTFIH] DEFINITIVE PROOF THAT MSE EXPANDS ZYGOS AND IPD

is MSE a common treatment / procedure? doesnt seem many places have iot

This is such life fuel but the only thing is that huge fucking gap; how long does it take to close? If it’s like 8-9 months that’s too damn long
Yes, I have to find it first though.
Do you know how long is the recovery during MSDO? I would like to go to school while having it on. I heard the expansion takes about 10-12 days for 1-1.2cm of expansion and then 40 to 90 days for the bone to grow and them to take out the appliance

Really boyo?
Dont you need msdo too when u take mse

Not necessarily, it depends on the amount of bone surrounding the lower roots.

I asked IMDO is like 10k,

I beg you not to discuss fees and costs in public. Each quotation is unique, considering the rest of the treatments involved . In fact we don't to quotations, just estimates.
Is he legit? Wtf

Well, I consider myself quite legit. As I told other times, my office website is written in my profile and you can search me. The fact that I have a funny avatar here and that I spend some time in these forums doesn't make me less legit.
Odd, I thought it increased.

I think you still can until you reach your late early twenties or your mid-twenties.

Can't find it, I'll go search through the forum for it.
yes, that's it... Maybe also older males can have a successful expansion but chances of success are just low and unpredictable.

by the way, forget about increasing IPD

Everything is easier the younger you are.

Yes, last MSE I placed was on a 8-year-old boy. Some orthodontists might call me a butcher for doing that. But MSE effects are just so unique and it is so effective and efficient...

My oldest male patient is 31. He had a successful expansion that allowed him not to have a Le Fort but with additional surgery and a periodontal (gum recession) complication from it.

Take-home messages:
1.- Don't delay it, the younger the better.
2.- Better MSE than other expanders, specially removable expanders.
3.- Stop thinking you need something. Don't ask for what you need, specially here. Think about what you would like to improve and ask professionals to help you. Don't self diagnose and don't do treatments on your own. I understand that some people might have no access to good quality health care and it's difficult for me to put myself in those person shoes but I still find that dangerous.

Do it, it's major fucking lifefuel. And he's legitimate, I think he even showed his office or whatever on jawsurgeryforum.

Go to my profile here, no problem about it. Contact me... I don't mind answering questions. Just don't use the chat, it's very inconvenient from my phone.

Regarding facemasks (or facepullers, as you say). It's much better (effective and convenient) to use bone anchored protraction, to get two plates screwed on the bone of the chin.

what was main factor that you decide to make this procedure knowing that his bones are already developed at this age? was he really bad and everything at this stage will be improvement or did you see in his case you can improve without any post operation consequestions?

He asked me to try, he did not really wanted a Le Fort. That was the only factor, really.

First MSE try was unsuccessful, even with cortipunctures. Second try was with surgery, fully splitting the midline. He really improved, both his hemimaxillas advanced and rotated so an anterior cross bite turned almost in a class I bite, with some zygomatic advancement and widening. But, as I said, he had a small gum recession as a consequence of the surgery. We expect him to fully recover, though.

Option 1.- Travel
Option 2.- Phone every orthodontist in your location and ask. But double check afterwards to see if it is MSE or another type of MARPE that won't probably have its effects.

Is there a paper or article that describes this technique (I'd like to ask my ortho if she's tried it before)? Also, would this be counterproductive for non class 3 cases?

There is no much sense in using it in non class 3 patients. And yes, there are scientific articles and they are easy to find.

how do you explain facemask/facepuller to a orthodontist? Should I say headgear? What is the proper medical term for it?

facemask or reverse headgear... as you could have probably found using Google ;)

Could I get MSE just cuz? Or do I need to “qualify” for it?

Thanks man! You're very knowledgeable on these topics. Always love your input.

Would it be too vain to tell my ortho "i need a facemask for more forward growth." I'm not really recessed but there is room for improvement and I believe facepuller would do the job since i'm fairly young at the moment.

Would you mind if I send you my pics for evaluating? I'm considering getting MSE from you since your prices seems more reasonable.

yes same question!
How old are you? I’m 20 and that is a great time to get MSE; and since the FacePuller will directly pull from the loosened suture maxilla it’ll solidify gains

You need an orthodontist that is willing to accept such a treatment plan. After expansion you need to get a correct bite.

If you need MSE for improving your occlusion it will be easy to find one. If you already have a good bite but have serious breathing issues you might find one. If you don’t have any of these it will probably be difficult to get an orthodontist on board.

I don’t mind giving some advise in private should you want to PM me

fuark just visualizing that makes me hnnnnnngggg ngl. Losened suture getting pulled forward.

increased zygo prominence
more forward growth
wider mouth
better smile

atleast a 0.5PSL gain

That’s just icing on the cake; what I’m aiming for is less sclera show and no dark circles along with Meeks level cheekbone lateral prominence (>10mm of expansion)
