i find it quite odd how our facial features evolved compared to other ape-like species, obviously looking at an ideally developed individual. why do we have such narrow eyes, chins or nose bridges? did our ancestors fight each other more often than other ape-like species leading to us developing extra protection in the form of narrow orbitals and chins?

Well afaik. Chin width is environmental and maybe also eye width in terms of eyes looking good wide or too narrow.
The nose bridges are maybe some weird sexual selection or maybe again some epigenetic deformity?

indeed it is environmental but the potential is genetic, how a perfectly developed specimen looks like is genetic. gorillas would look different too if they grew up in an urban household.
