Basically, you need to be the center of attention and “force” the students to pay attention. They must obey your commands, they are not allowed to speak during instructions. Also, you need to correct their behavior constantly. Students getting out of their seats, students interrupting the teacher who’s in the middle of instructing. You’re also supposed to give out penalties, by sending students outside of the classroom if they’re being a constant nuisance.
And I’m like… Do whatever you want. I don’t care if you pay attention or not.
But that is not a good thing, you’re supposed to be strict. Kind of like a cop, where you are the dominant authority figure. I’m not a dominant authority figure, I’m too unconcerned. And you need to exhibit these traits during the program; traits I do not possess.
So, long story short… I’m not cut out for teaching. It’s not my personality.

It could be stressful, yes. Teachers have to deal with parents on top of disrespectful students, and a school admin that caters to parents/students instead of their employees. But my reasons were more personality-related.

No, I was not a substitute teacher. A substitute teacher is an independent teacher who is temporary filling in until a permanent teacher is found. I was doing an internship under a veteran teacher. The first few weeks I was mainly observing rather than actively helping out.
It’s more “what I can’t do” instead of what I don’t wanna do. I can’t be an authority figure, or have a stick up my ass. I’m too low T and chill.
