Truck drivers spend so much time on the road that they have already listened to every song in existence a thousand times

So instead many of them listen to podcasts encompassing a wide range of knowledge. Politics, arts, world happenings, comedy, whatever, they have all the time in the world to be up to date

Same stuff with taxi drivers. On top of this they know every single street in their city. Every venue, every little detail and their clients - who talk abundantly during the ride - come from all kinds of social classes

Security guards, especially the ones doing night shifts fall into the same category. The guy knowing the most about geopolitics isn’t one of my professors from college but a friend of mine who works as a night security for a financial insitution. He spends all his shift watching and reading about internation relations, economics etc.

Likewise many NEETs are basement rotters but some of them might legit have a huge knowledge due to the sheer amount of free time they possess

True, but it's a waste tbh.

I wouldnt say intellectual is the right word for them. More like knowledgable, they see and hear a lots of things during their jobs so they tend to be very up to date with the world’s happenings around them

Very accurate post

I agree school and work that requires a lot of time doesn’t leave people enought time to just think about shit. They are always thinking about what they need to get done and the remaining time goes to relaxing/pleasure activities

Once you can spare time like they do it really gives you an opportunity to think about and assess stuff unlike most people.

I had some health issues where I didn’t go to university for -on and off- 30 months or so and had nothing to do just semi rotted in a weird way,I did fun stuff as well but it was no attachments. In that time frame I learned and observed and thought about shit more than the previous 19 years of my life before that

It really gave me the luxury to take a step back to look at life and everything I could think of

if I have sent to prison for 10 years. I would probably spend 16 hours a day reading books to compensate it

Legit, my dad is a truck driver and he's listened to hundreds, maybe thousands of audiobooks on history, politics, psychology, philosophy etc etc etc
