If your chest still looks puffy even when you’re lean, you might not have a fat problem you might have gyno, which this thread should help you not only figure out how to tell if you DO have gyno, but also details about gynecomastia surgery
IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW.
Gynecomastia ≠ chest fat.
Gyno isn't fat, it is the enlargement of male breast tissue caused by hormonal imbalance, genetics, certain medications, or body fat distribution.
Getting lean before surgery is important
Only get the surgery if you've been told it is gyno and if you have gotten lean and the fat in your chest has stayed.
Make money and afford a good surgeon.
Fat can shrink with weight loss.
Gland tissue cannot.
Meaning that even fat loss will not be able to get rid of your gyno
(Despite what everyone's parents say.)
Think you have gyno?
• Puffy nipples even when lean
• Firm rubbery lump under nipple
• Chest doesn’t flatten when dieting
• Nipples protrude through shirts
The gym cant fix your gyno bro.
Chest workouts build muscle under the gland.
So sometimes it can actually make the puffiness more noticeable.
How to actually fix it.
Gynecomastia surgery removes the gland tissue.
Usually through a small incision around the areola.
Average price
• $5,587 according to American Society of Plastic Surgeons
• Total with anesthesia + facility: $6k–$9k
• On the high end: $10k–$12k+
Procedure
• 1–2 hour surgery
• Outpatient (go home same day)
• Local or general anesthesia
What recovery really looks like.
• Compression vest/ Bra thing: ~3–4 weeks
(This compression bra thing is worn for 3-4 weeks, so winter surgery is recommended so you don't take off your shirt and reveal the ugly fucking compression bra.)
• When you should return to activity like the gym: ~4–6 weeks
Once the gland is removed, it doesn’t come back unless hormones are heavily disrupted.
