I used to work for Amazon & the amount of Indians & Africans there is seriously crazy. I felt like I was in a UN meeting during my entire time there:lul: Bezo's is a libtard who banned "Offensive books" So it's not surprising.

I mean. Even despite having prevailing wage. People say foreign workers are undercutting American employees and stealing their jobs. Making their wages lower would just result in more americans getting replaced isn't it?

Due to H1Bs laws they need to be paid the prevailing wage which is the same salary as they would pay to an American whic is determined by the U.S. Department of Labor but I've heard people say that the prevailing wage is sometimes set slightly below what an American would be irl be paid otherwise

if amazon were remote that'd make like most of its faults manageable their internship salaries were hella good too and pro tip you could dodge the leetcode interview almost fully if you go through a closely related position for interns.

I personally don't like work from home tbh. I've tried it. I just don't feel like getting things done unless I'm in some kind of formal pants and have dress shoes on. I can't imagine turning my house into a work place. Even when I used to do free lance I work just go to a nearby cafe and work for hours. I need that mental seperation of work environment and home environment, work mode and relax mode otherwise my productivity takes a big hit

I've heard that fields like mechanical, civil, and other core engineering roles tend to be less affected by offshoring or mass layoffs compared to software/tech, because it require on-site work hands-on expertise or local knowledge. @imontheloose is also a britcel engineer and he told me he can only be replaced by a local and not anyone else because of the nature of the work
My work, currently, isn’t going to ever be given to an Indian, simply because these operators will not listen to a curry accentcel who can’t talk to a low-class Brit properly. English companies much prefer having natives for their engineers too, or at least born-Brits.
