The male brain is evolved to think it has a 90% chance of success even if the chance she likes you is 10%. The male brain then makes us obsess about the girl, imagining being with her, and how she's perfect, and how we're a better guy for her, and all that.
But you might as well go for it. Getting rejected by her will help you get over her, so your brain can do the same thing next time the next semi attractive, or non-obese woman enters your life.
And who knows, it could work out.
