I saw on your other posts, your hair is admittedly pretty trash rn. I've been cutting my own hair for more than a year now and i can tell you what to do and how to do it.

First off, grow it out, almost every looksmaxxer has longer hair. Short hair can look good if you're chad or chadlite but even then, longer hair is always better.

I have pin straight hair, they are heavy as well, so after a shampoo, they lie down making me look like farquaad. Easy solution, stop shampooing your hair, it might get greasy at first but after a while, they get pretty normal even without the shampoo. The natural oils help with texture and volume, especially if you don't sweat a lot, or do things that cause sweating. Im not saying never shampoo, but i do it like once a week at max usually on a day when i don't have to go out. And after a shampoo, i have to apply sea salt spray to give my hair any semblance of texture.

Texture, volume and length are the three main players when it comes to hair.

Length: this is tricky because if it's too short, it's flat. If it's short, it sticks up. If it's just long enough, you get perfect combination of a voluminous flow. Longer than that, it's flat again. So you kinda have to find the sweet spot and then maintain there. Different areas of your head have different perfect lengths, grow your hair out, look at each section(top, sides, and back) to see when it looks perfect, get a rough idea of how long the hair is and then maintain.

Volume: for people with straight hair like mine, volume is hard, since our hair judt lays flat on top of each other, curly and wavy hair don't have this problem. To fix this, we need layering. Layering is your saviour, letting one section of hair lie on top of other sections is how we create volume. When done correctly, it creates like a cascade of hair sectionally, looking fantastic. Gives the hair volume, hold and appeal.

Texture: this is related to layering but if your hair is fundamentally unhealthy, you might have to oil and shampoo for a couple weeks to bring it back to good texture before you apply other tricks to it.

Hopefully this helped, if you do cut your own hair, remember this one extremely important rule:

1. Cut less than you think you need to. No, even less. (You can cut more later, you can't cut less. We're trimming hedges here, not cutting trees.)
