All of you should be doing this if you care about your hair, regardless of your age or how likely you think you will be affected by androgenetic alopecia. It requires very little effort (a few minutes every few months), and should be started ASAP.
You will need a flexible ruler:
Take note of the following points:
In front of a mirror, measure the distances between your glabella reference point and each of the 5 targets.
If you do not have short/buzzed hair, you will need to pull your hair back in order to measure back to the deepest follicle for each of the 5 points.
Make sure the flexible ruler is tightly pulled across your forehead when measuring.
Record the measurements, like such:
Considering room for measurement error, if your distances are increasing by 5+ mm in only half a year, you are probably experiencing AGA and should consider taking action (if you haven't already). This method is useful for monitoring the effectiveness of your doses (particularly topical, which can be changed if you mix yourself). Low dose topical finasteride (and some experimental compounds) is inexpensive (just a few cents per application) if you source the powder in bulk and mix yourself—that's for another guide though.

- glabella (right between your eyebrows) - this is your reference point
- frontal point
- left/right temporal points
- left/right temporal recessions
