I paid 40% last year.

Add in pensions, student loan (undergrad, ppstgrad), national insurance. Takes it well above 50%.

Now factor in rent/mortgage, living costs, council tax, bills etc. I'm surprised people even survive here..UK is suifeul.

These tax bands haven't changed since 2009 or something. Actually they just I creased it for additional rate JFL.

Foodstamps are like 250 a month, I was on them in university.
