You don't want to compare yourself against others, you want others to compere themselves against you

our whole social structures, resource distribution and mating opportunitys all exist because people compete with another.
And if people dont compare themselves against one another (for example in communist planned economies cultures with forced mate selection/forced marriages) there is no incentive for advancement.
People not competing therefore lead to dysgenics, poverty etc.
