- most of the time there was nothing to do so we would get our computers out together in some room and do our own rotting routine on discords and shitty video games like MMOs that require daily grinding. There was relatively little conversation - like maybe 1 hour in a whole day of hanging out
- we would try to find something to do together on PC, but there was nothing worthwhile to do together, even at the level of watching a movie or playing some cooperative game. If that was happening mostly people would be scrolling their feed or drinking.
- it was obvious that everyone except a small handful were secretly or not so secretly depressed, lonely and miserable and being friends with each other was a cope. We were all aware at some level of our nonexistent social status
- occasionally we would go out to smoke a cart in an alleyway or something, not because we wanted to but out of a listlessness and a desire to do “something”.
- obviously any one of these people I hung out with would have everyone for 6 months if a LTB texted them. The little “brotherhood” existed for people who’ve know each other since childhood, and mostly involved teaming up in social maneuvers against others. People mostly just tolerated each other, often making snide remarks when someone left the room
