I went on a hardcore "no sugar" lifestyle for nearly a month and convinced myself I was purging toxins from my body. But all it did was make me depressed. I just had a bit of ice cream for the first time in a month after a nearly total zero carb policy, and to my shock, my mood afterward improved by an order of magnitude. And it lasted for the ENTIRE REST OF THE DAY. And the most shocking part? It wasn't even good ice cream. It had freezer burn and ice crystals and terrible texture. Yet it didn't matter because it still had sugar.
Happiness literally is just chemicals. There is nothing magical about it.
