If Prophet spread Islam by force

The Prophet’s initial approach toward the pagan tribes of Mecca was one of patience and peaceful preaching. For over a decade in Mecca, he focused on spreading the message of monotheism without resorting to armed conflict, despite severe persecution of himself and his followers.

War only began after the migration to Medina.

Before open conflict, there were some early raids on Meccan trade caravans by the Muslims in Medina. These raids were to reclaim wealth and property that had been confiscated when the Muslims were oppressed, expelled, and stripped of their belongings by the Meccans.

Also, Mecca began to see the growing Muslim community in Medina as a direct threat. Because more tribes allied with the Prophet, Medina was becoming a rising power.

The first major battle happened when the Muslims attempted to intercept a Meccan caravan to recover what had been taken from them. This led to a larger confrontation. Despite being outnumbered, the Muslims won, and this became a turning point from purely defensive measures to strategic warfare.

It was at this point that a verse was revealed:

“Permission [to fight] has been given to those who are being fought, because they were wronged…”

Thus, the Prophet’s involvement in military action was not born of aggression but was a response to persecution, economic injustice, and existential threats to the Muslim community. something well supported by historical evidence.
