Perhaps the biggest blackpill that dawned on me today. I have never ever seen a person in my life that was happy for more time on this planet than not. Most people suffer for a larger fraction of their life than they are happy. In fact even for the people in upper echelons of society, the time they spend suffering significantly outlasts the time they spend being happy. According to my hypithesis, here are some cases where people spend more time being happy than not

1. Psychopaths = This is an obvious case. Psychopaths rarely care about people other than themselves. This automatically strips a lot of suffering that is embedded within people. People care about other's opinions even if they say they dont and that induces a lot of suffering when most do not measure upto society's expectations. This goes for every type of person from most successful to least successful. Psychopaths simply dont have this, so a large paet of suffering simply vanishes

2. Once in a millenium people = People like Gretzsky, Messi and Karelin are once in a millenium people. Almost every deficiency in themselves is completely outshadowed by what they shine at. These people are such huge outliers that not a single deficiency leads to them having the same concerns about the average man. But of course, the question is that I am judging them that way. Maybe Messi wishes he was taller. Maybe, but mostly I think his accomplishments and adulations overshadow his shortcomings. Same goes for Gretzsky and Karelin. Such huge outliers that most time is spent on that dopamine boost one gets. These are for sports, but I am sure you can look up such exceptions from all over fields.

3. True Monks = This one may seem a bit weird given how they represent no deviation from the norm. Actually I think this is the hardest albiet most rewarding way to gain true happiness. Take for example Buddhist monks, they are more blackpilled than most guys here. But instead of sulking, they look for answers. They are guided by lessons of Buddha. Most people would see penance as a cope, but I see it as something fulfilling its purpose. Practising detachment from life to endure suffering. In a sense, they are not gaining dopamine boosts or experiencing 0 empathy like the above 2 cases, but they are practising their brains to get accustomed to an extremely somple life, devoid of wants and desires, even simpler than hunter gatherers. This reduces suffering and primes the brain to be accustomed to contentment, preventing the system from wanting more. As I repeatedly said, this is extremely hard, which is why only a select few can do this. Gautama Buddha being one of them. However regardless of outcome, I think this is a noble path. Even if one does not become a true monk, it is admirable to try

Inevitably, I must conclude that the true happiness that I mention is not really true in the sense of absolutism. It is in a relative sense compared to most of mankind. I even mentioned the criteria of spending more time being content/happy than not in the course of entire life.

However suppose the human predicament of suffering was removed via reconfiguring the brain + environment to eliminate suffering entirely, it would result in even greater contentment than above. I am not sure that such a case is even possible for humans, so pardon my tomfoolery woth the concept of happiness
