Yes. I believe that Muslims have the issue of religion so ingrained in their societies, but at the same time, they don't practice it. It's something so commonplace that it becomes popular. So, it's not like they know what things are sins and what aren't, they simply take ownership of their religious identity to justify their actions.

exactly. it’s often used by people as an excuse to justify their own actions. a means to an end. this is why i don’t take religious laws that seriously. most of the people enforcing it are often even bigger sinners themselves

in my country their is a stereotype that religious teachers molest their students. this is the type of bs that goes on in the minds of some of these people

Are you familiar with the concept of social contract and freedom of belief? It's part of universal human rights, written almost 100 years ago. It implies that in order to live in society, you must respect the beliefs of both parties and not interfere with the freedoms and rights of others because of your beliefs.
