has anyone overcome majority of their anxiety to be able to get where they want to be socially and function OFF meds?

my plan right now is to combine some sort of anxiolytic meds to combine with CBT (with my daily life), some meds that will allow me to function normally and form new associations and behavioural patterns such that when I come off the meds, my baseline anxiety is also shifted without the need for meds.

these are the ones ive been researching and tried
- clonidine
- propranolol
- alcohol
- agomelatine
- xanax
- stims (moda, dex, vy, ...)
- ashwagandha

looking into
- guanfacine
- memantine
- atomoxetine (combined with clonidine?)
- pregab / baclofen

the aforementioned meds ive tried are either too sedating to form new memory associations or just dont work as well anxiolytically.

if anyone has any success stories please share or tag posts.

lol wtf
just have a couple of beers/shots before doing something that's going to give you anxiety. also force yourself into social situations/micro-interactions and you will build up a tolerance

alcohol won't be viable for long term solution. im looking for some solutions that can be combined with CBT and dont interfere with memory formation.

exposure therapy. force yourself to talk to people, even start mini confrontations. for example say that your coffee was cold or ask for directions even if you don't need them. you need to get out and talk to people if you don't have a job. if you're trying to get a job, get one that involves engaging with lots of people on a daily basis. this is why people who work in trades are so good at social interactions.

in terms of changing how you think, I do the following: think 'will this matter in the year 3000?' - years into the future people will not remember you for anything. you could die tomorrow and the shop you go to daily will still open in the morning, friends and family will still go to work as usual. they will forget about you eventually, or at least not think about you too often.

life is short. so make some money, spend it, have fun, don't take things too seriously and don't hold yourself back. you don't want to regret life and live the one life you have as a pussy who wimped out of everything. think this way and it will kill most of your anxiety.

yep. I unironically believe mindset trumps IQ when it comes to most things (money, girls, etc)

im running out of time bro need to fix this within the next year. I have tried cbt my whole life, it just isn't enough, I need a push with meds, propranolol has given me the most progress ive made the last few years. main thing is maintaining relationships for me rather than starting. a lot of my anxiety comes from texting people and propranolol has taken the most of the edge off that for me. but im still not where I want to be mentally. im thinking about starting SSRIs as a last resort.
