Has anyone here pretended to have (or have more severe) health/functional issues to get insurance to cover their primarily cosmetic surgeries?

Anyone here frauded, for instance, sleep apnea in order to persuade their insurance to pay for their bimax?

Note to law enforcement: this discussion is purely hypothetical. We don’t condone dishonesty.

I imagine it's harder to completely fraud since you'll probably need to get referred to a surgeon by an ortho that consults w/ you. but if you need a bimax, it's possible you already have these problems / might develop them in the future (i.e tmj) even if you don't know it yet. You may have very slight trouble sleeping but think it's normal, etc

on the other hand, having a real problem and playing it up... i mean... obviously do that as much as you can lol

With bimax yes play it up as much as you can but many insurance companies may require several sleep studies demonstrating a bad AHI, proof you attempted CPAP for a month or two to no avail, etc. before they'll fund it.

Why? Are u forced to go to the doctor they pick?
that depends to the country

usually an ortho will recommend a surgeon of their choice ( nepotism likely ) who works with your health insurance

and surgeon who does insurance cases sure as fuck wont use guide / custom plates since they add extra cost that insurance wont cover, not to mention you can't do genioplasty as that is considered as a esthetic procedure

insurance surgeons i've talked to were some of the most retarded people i've ever encountered, some dont even do 3d planning or they tell you they will do a 7 mm movement, but it ends up being fucking 4 because they DONT USE GUIDES

not to mention they will tell you to fuck off if you disagree with their initial plan, its not like you can just tell them to do a 3 piece lefort and impaction with ccw to shorten midface, they will laught you off as the best case scenari

forgot how hard it is for you americancells. canadiancell here and bimax is covered by our gov insurance, you just need to pay surgeons fee. but the downsides is wait times for appointments are so fucked here. thankfully a really good surgeon is at my city AND even teaches at my uni.

He only takes patients by referral tho... so praying to get referral from my ortho. according to others here you might be able to get genio added for free too... but yeah.. no way you're getting anything past double jaw surgery and genio covered. no lefort 2 and 3 or implants.

Best you could do is order a home sleep study and drink until you pass out, would still have to be somewhat recessed in order for this to work

Yeah I frauded a bit to ensure I got bad results on my sleep apnea study.

Got DJS covered by insurance, 3 weeks post op. Zero regrets. Just google what contributes to poor sleep/worsening sleep apnea and do it all for the next 2-3 days before the sleep study.
