I leanmaxxed enough, started to train my abs, but without weights. I would like to train with weights, has anyone tried tried this machine crunch exercise.

I have no idea if my gym has these machines (didn't know it exited until today), has anyone tried machine crunches here. If it works, why is it not a widely known exercise and everyone uses it?

Yeah, was completely terrible better just doing exercises at home for abs

it is a good exercise if youre engaging your abdominals instead of your hip flexors which is a mistake a lot of people make

no, weighted exercises in proper rep ranges are the best for hypertrophy including the abs. youre not better off doing a gajillion bicycle kicks at home

Yeah sounds reasonable. My gym has to have these machines, I never paid attention but they're big and should have them. I'm doing weightless stuff at home and don't feel like progressing.

i don't feel my abs with this stupid machine for some reason.

As with any other muscle, eating in a surplus, and training them with resistance in proper rep ranges is the key to growth.

youre using your hip flexors instead of abs. think about crunching your abs more than just bringing your knees up and your torso down

This machine is pretty dogshit, meh contraction.

Prefer upside down ab crunches on my pullup bar (if u fall its over, paralyzedmaxxing) if you're targeting upper abs.

But what really changed my core was just normal leg raises while hanging on a pullup bar (target mostly lower abs) + stomach vacuums

But I'm also genetically blessed in the abs department, still my core used to look very different

normal leg raises and ab crunches are pretty much similar movements which both engage your abs sub effectively when you use your hip flexors like most people do. the machine is better for hypertrophy bc you can load weight but leg raises too

Just do hanging leg raises lol

This. It doesn't hit the abs well imo.
