Has anyone tried making friends by just asking random groups of people your age on the street/mall/club something like "can i be your friend?" or "can i join your group?" Im really autistic and don't know how normies make friends so i ask.

Hmm. In many cultures that's a weird thing to do, as friendships are often made through school & jobs, mutual interests(EG: meeting someone at a basketball group), or meeting a mutual friend in a friend group

Asking total strangers if they want to be friends can backfire. They can be people you don't like once you get to know them

Whoever told you going up and asking let's be friends is something you do when you are in preschool like clark said. mutual interests, job etc or childhood is the most likely scenario or being good at something.

Best scenario I can imagine is If someone is sitting on a bench, aSk them if it’s taken and sit net to them, Offer a cig or a blunt or some shit and strike a convo.
