Honestly it was very close due to the entire world being against them they fallen but they fought a good fight in the end.
1. From being forced to pay a 22 billion dollar debt ( not adjusting for inflation) after their independence
2. To being banned from all trade by most of the world
3. To sanctions and invasions by the USA.
Hati still persisted and is the only slave colony in all of history to retain their freedom though they are the poorest country in the world, they still fought by any means to keep their freedom
