How much of an advancement should I get in my maxilla and mandible? I don’t have a underbite or overbite.

If ur bite is good then I think you’d benefit more from genioplasty or implants than any craniofacial surgery.

That would only help with my chin area and wouldn’t address my weak jawline/midface though. I definitely need djs to have any type of definition

No one can tell you the answer as to the specific mm of movement.

You might not have an overbite because your teeth tilt in/out to make up for your skeletal recession.

I'm very hesitant to suggest upper jaw movement because your lower third protrudes past your forehead already.

It really is your mandible that needs to be addressed. See if you can get your teeth decompensated to move your lower jaw only. If your upper jaw is required, make sure it's no more than 3-4mm.

Jaw surgery is primarily a functional surgery with its purpose being to correct maxofacial deformities. Your jaw isn’t deformed or recessed lol u just have a normie jawline. And ur midface is fine lol.

He looks severely recessed. Recessed jaws are common so he wouldn't stand out much in a crowd. But it is bad.

You have a great base for jaw surgery as your nasion is strong, your infras are not so weak, and your gonial angle is decent despite the recessed and malrotated mandible. Surgeons will likely propose you something in the ballpark of 2-5mm maxilla, 10-16 pogonion, and 7-9deg counterclockwise rotation. Your facial convexity angle right now is around 159 (ans-supras-chin) and given your look you want to get that to around 168. I think this would be possible without bringing your chin too far ahead of your nasion ("dogmaxx"). I am just giving a ballpark because I don't know all the other extenuating factors about your case and your aesthetic desires. What is salient is just that you need counterclockwise rotation with a small maxilla movement and a more sizeable mandible one. Make sure anyone you consult is recommending you ccw without you having to bring it up.

would they be able to advance my mandible significantly more than my maxilla if my bite is normal? Wont this mess up my bite if the bring the mandible to far?

Thats why you ccw rotate, each ccw degree will give you more than mm more forward on the mandible so 5 degree 5+ mm on the mandible length and so fourth.

Brutal then if ur bite already good then you’d have to decompensate which is gonna take a long time. Mandibular recession right? Your maxilla looks good imo.

got my consultation today and the surgeon said im a good candidate and he will do a ccw rotaion and advance the mandibular atleast 10mm and maxilla around 2-5mm. only problem is i prob wont be covered but he said i would need braces for atmost a year

I’ve heard that after you decompensate your bite then it can be covered by insurance. Insurance don’t gaf about skeletal recession but if you have an overjet from decompensating they might cover it.

Ya that’s exactly what he said. He said I’ll probably have a overjet of atleast 5 mm when they get straightened out but he also said if it isn’t atleast 5 mm then the ortho can push them out to stilll get me covered. So literally best case scenario for me. He also said even if I didn’t get covered the cost wouldn’t be more than $20k. Which I thought it’s would be atleast $30k since my case is considered “complex.”
