Have you ever collected anything?

I was never into trading cards or anything like that.
As a kid I did collect a ton of sticks/branches/wood to use for playfighting with my friends though.
But eventually my parents threw them all out because they started crowding the garden.

Energy drink cans. It formed when I was too lazy to throw away trash then became sentimental. I have a couple rare ones now.

I guess if we count stuff like that I did "collect" glass bottles when I was an alcoholic as well, for a similar reason as yours (throwing glass bottles away takes more effort in my country than regular trash and I was too lazy to do it)
