The hedonic treadmill, also known as hedonic adaptation, is the observed tendency of humans to quickly return to a relatively stable level of happiness despite major positive or negative events or life changes. According to this theory, as a person makes more money, expectations and desires rise in tandem, which results in no permanent gain in happiness.

This is right. Being subhuman my whole life would make many guess I should've roped ages ago but I've somehow managed enough resting points after massive depressive episodes that I'm somehow still coping. Fuck I hate this.

Idk why but I can never fall into depression, even after the blackpill hitting me hard. I've never felt suicidal at all.

Would probably have a much higher happieness baseline if I had a normal life

Social media paints a line higher than the hedonistic normality point, so everyone thinks everyone else is living a better life than they actually are

For me it's not happiness base level. It's just base mood level. Something good (love) can skyrocket me past base happiness to euphoria and something bad to very very depressed tbh
