Sitting height can tell roughly how proprotionate you are and could be used to estimate maturity due to the typical sequence of closure in growth plates
USUAL order In boys, growth plates close in a specific bottom-up sequence, starting with the feet and hands (often fusing by age 15–16), which is why shoe size stabilizes first. The closure then moves up to the wrists, elbows, and knees, with the leg bones fusing around 17–19 to mark the end of height growth. Finally, the spine and hips mature, leaving the collarbone (clavicle) as the very last to close, typically fusing between ages 23 and 25
I also found some data from a 1983 source that the average male grew 2.13 cm from the age of 18 to 27, with only 27% of boys being the same height as they wre at 19 at age 27. I will consider this in height predictions more often, growth past 18/tanner stage 5 is minimal but not rare or unexpected. Most growth in this time period typically came from the trunk/torso. This is huge hopefuel yall dont understand. the highest growth here was 7 cm so you can realistically expect an inch past 18
Back to this method, It utilizes Mirwald maturity-offset approach + Sherar et al.'s 2005 maturity-based cumulative height-velocity curves. It uses age, standing height, sitting height, and weight to estimate maturity status and then estimate remaining growth.
The reported range of accuracy was 95% within a range of 5.35 cm and these were my results.
so according to this there is a 95% chance my height will end up anywhere from 184.7 cm to 195.4 cm, around 6 foot and 3/4 to 6'5. Im already marginally above the minimum prediction meaning this method is saying I will either not grow at all or grow ~10 cm from now to adukthood with 5.5 cm being the most likely.
the last time i did this around 13.5 i also got a result of 6'3 as well so it hasnt changed in 1.8 years which is maing me consider it more
JFL at mid parental height that said im gonna be 5'9
DWBI get height boosters lol
(i wear them and can fraud near 189 cm)
