The biological cost to women is higher for getting pregnant than it is for men to impregnate a woman. While a woman is pregnant, she's less capable, and more vulnerable, and could even die during child birth. She also can not be impregnated by a more attractive man when he comes along, if she is already pregnant.

This is why women have higher standards for who they will sleep with than men do. Because sex is often involved in dating, it's also why women have much higher standards for who they date than men do.

This leads to most women reproducing with a smaller percentage of men. There are technical scientific terms for all of this, that I can't remember, but it is a fact. This is why, if ever guy looks maxed, still only a smaller percentage of the top guys would get to reproduce.

Only in societies where marriage is basically forced, with the penalty of death for sex outside of marriage, do women partner with their equal SMV partner. It's not natural, and needs to be heavily enforced by the society to work.
