I’m afraid that reincarnation might be real, and that my consciousness could end up in the body of an insect or an animal. I’d rather believe in the concept of Heaven than in the nightmare of reincarnation. There may also be unimaginably horrific possibilities waiting for us after death, and it’s possible that this world which we thought was so miserable is actually far more merciful than whatever comes after death

If your soul were reincarnated as an insect, you’d likely be eaten by stronger insects and forced to perform exhausting work within your colony. If you were reincarnated as a cow, a pig, or even a blue whale, humans might kill you or, if you were female, force you to reproduce throughout your life. Animal deaths are far more painful than human deaths. At least as a human, before you die, you may receive palliative care and pass away with morphine
