My iPhone SE (1st generation) only charges when it's turned off now. The original charger cable stopped working recently (eventually even when device is turned off) and only charged when I bent the cable to the side, so I bought a new lightning to USB cable today. It charged again to my relief but once I unlocked my phone, it stopped charging. Bending the new cable sideways also doesn't make it charge now.

Did anyone have this problem and knows how to possibly fix it? Funnily enough btw, my vaccum cleaner also gave up the ghost today, while I was cleaning my apartment

My charger looks worse than picrel and still works, maybe it's just your phone itself

I bought it secondhand with remaining warranty for around 100 Euro because my previous Android phone had a touchscreen issue. In my experience, every single phone (regardless of brand or price), pair of headphones, charger, laptop or other electronic device eventually breaks down. It's really annoying but I seem to be cursed in that regard

I hope it isn't the hardware. I still have remaining warranty but having it fixed would take a week or so and I need my phone
I hope so too, something similar happened to my past phone where I had to curve the charger to charge, and eventually it never charged again, or remained permanently at 2%.

Another thing I just noticed is my phone always says "10% battery" when it turns on even though the battery status in the right upper corner says a different (lower) number

maybe get a battery replacement for $30, if the software is still running fine i would do that to save the phone instead if getting a new one.

regarding the charging issue, get a wooden or plastic tooth pic and try to get the accumulated dust out of the charging port, over the years it collects a lot of it

watch a youtube video on how to remove it

I still have warranty for it. Just not looking forward to not being able to use my phone for however long fixing it including shipping takes

switching battery is a 2 hour job

and cleaning it is free

I didn't buy it at the local Apple store or sth. I bought it secondhand from someone who purchased it from rebuy, with remaining warranty. I'll have to send it back if I want to make use of it. Why would I pay extra for it when I have a warranty?
