Help me on how to use hydroquinone

"I've been using tretinoin 0.025% twice a week and hydroquinone 4% daily for one week. My skin looks much duller than before. Is this a normal adjustment phase, or could my skin barrier be damaged? Should I continue, stop temporarily to repair my skin barrier, or add kojic acid 1%? I'm confused about what to do."
