Hello everyone,im 14yo
Today I went to the orthodontist for a consultation about getting a palatal expander, but he noticed another issue.
My lower jaw has slightly shifted to the right, which is causing some minor facial asymmetry. He said this may be due to habits like chewing on one side or sleeping posture—you know what I mean.
He also mentioned that my chin is too prominent and has also shifted to the right.
So, he said I need to do something called “Class II correction” (the name might not be exactly right, but I’ll explain what it is).
Basically, they put on braces with elastics that will pull the jaw until it aligns properly and the bite is corrected.
He also said that I don’t need an RPE (Rapid Palatal Expander) on both sides because only the right side is underdeveloped due to this jaw issue.
He suggested slightly expanding only that side
But I’m almost sure my maxilla is super flat overall.
What do you think guys, and I think that after class II this small asymmetry will go away, but I think that the expression of the lower jaw will worsen
