"The complete preoperative assessment requires a high-res full-face 3D-CT scan (gantry tilt 0°, the spatial resolution of the scan should be between 0.5 - 0.7 mm, saving the entire scan (incl. all sub-files) as DICOM files (NOT a Cone-Beam CT). The field of the CT scan should be as shown in the pictures and include the full facial regions (chin, nose, forehead, cheeks) without any support (as chin rest or similar) touching the face."

The person I showed this to got really confused about the part in bold and wondered wtf it meant. He thinks it just meant to only save the file as a DICOM file but that getting the scan as CONE BEAM is fine.

I want a full face/skull scan to be able to analyze, show other surgeons, etc. so should I tell him cone beam is FINE or should I push for a CT? also what do you think doctor specifically meant?

I asked about the differences - cone beam can have some distortion whereas CT will be more spatially accurate. The imaging size of dental CBCT scanners is often also too small. Finally, with the lying-down position in the CT you’re guaranteed to have a natural bite position and nothing disrupting your soft tissues.

I agree it’s a fucking nightmare to get these scans though.
