My orthodontist recommended that I get these metal appliances that require elastic bands that need to be changed 4-5 times daily before getting braces. She said that if my lower jaw is not moved enough extraction of pre molars could be possible but usually that doesn't happen if you consistently use and reapply your elastics. I wanted to know others opinions, and fyi I'm class ii (overbite)

If you dont wanna use elastics then you can get a herbst appliance. First week would be uncomfortable but its way more effective

alr, I'll bring that up during my next appointment. Also if you get Herbst appliance do you still need braces after the 6-12 months?

No elastics, they are fucking you over because the wisdom teeth will be trapped when they push the teeth back and ruin development. the bones will follow at a young age.

You are in control of the situation, it’s ok to say no to this treatment, never let them extract a single tooth.

Herbs appliance only.

i was in the same shoes as you and i wore the same thing before i got my braces, you should honestly do it. its only a little uncomfortable for a few days but you get used to it really easy. the results are also insane in terms of getting jaw projection and fixing your overbite

See an airway orthodontist right now.

They have to expand immediately.

why would i need to expand ? and i doubt they would even do it since i just got done with my braces, the thing is that i didnt even have crowded teeth before extractions, the ortho just wanted to ruin my life and pulled them out even though they didnt need to be

You aren’t gonna go back to that orthadontist.

You need to see an airway based one to get an X-ray of you’re airway, you 100% have a narrow pallet of they extracted.

Also, please don’t blame the orthodontist, they just have a low IQ.

why is the airway the most important thing rn? also yes i do blame the ortho because i asked her at the last appointment if extracting teeth could cause any bad side effects and she said "yes" but she still proceded to do it because in her opinion "expanding doesnt work"

You will have a narrow pallet, forward head posture as you get older to compensate for the airways ,mouth breathing at night, and they already pulled the jaw back from extractions. which will demolish natural development.

Go see a real airway orthadontist and speak to them with concerned for the airway because of extractions, ASAP

Also rep me I’m helping you

ive actually looked into this alot and i dont really think that its possible for tooth extractions to really pull the actual jaw backwards, it can only lessen lips and midface support since teeth was also supporting it earlier. I will rep you if you tell me how cause im kinda new here. but yeah thank you ill try to get a consultation

Say no to everything. The elastics are gonna push down your lower jaw and the extractions will make your palate narrow as fuck
