Weird combination I have. Deep down I sincerely believe I could beat my opponent, but the thought of losing would shatter my confidence. Ergo I'd rather not even try (or if trying, never giving my 100%) so I can cope with: "Meh, if I really tried I would've won. I'm still better even if I've lost 
".
E.g:
If there is a girl I'm into, but notice someone else also wants her, I just give up and let him continue flirting with her (but still thinking she would chose me if I've tried).
Or whenever someone outlifts me in a gym, I cope how I'm just not motivated enough.
