It's not BDD if the beauty standards aren't unrealistic. For example, if ur standard is reaching ur genetic potentional as an ethnic vs trying to fraud eye color

BDD is a real phenomena, but it’s misdiagnosed all the time. Psychiatrists often diagnose ugly people with BDD for complaining about flaws in their appearance, when in reality, those facial flaws were responsible for a lot of their bad experiences in life. If someone of model/actor tier looks starts having insecurities in their appearance, then it’s BDD as they are objectively good looking so they are are irrational

Also to add its feels as though it's actually your mind/body signalling to you that your social standing in the community is compromised due to your looks, a rational response.

No different from picking up something heavy or eating the wrong foods your body/mind will react to tell you that you are in danger. Your subconscious is scanning what is happening to you.

I always find most people with BDD its usually parts of the face as this is exposed to everyone hence is being socially driven as your face is on show where as no one gets BDD in their ankles or elbows.

Psychologist are bs if they are speaking about moral / political aspects. Bdd can be there if you are anorexic or are a bodybuilder who is juiced asf and still think he is small, but if you base your acension on facts, morphs other people experience etc. then it's not bdd. Unfortunately society think you are Ill as a male and will prop diagnose you for bdd and say you are pretty,normal looking etc. Morals and politics is badly weaven in psychologist. Look at transgenders for example. It used to be a disease that they try to "help". Because of political suddenly it's not anymore and transgenders cant be questioned anymore by a psychologist without beiing called a nazi. Surgery as male is seeing bad by morals, politics etc. So they try to talk it out of you. Beiing a transgender is not bdd and going for more sexual dismorphism is?
