The symbolism of Hindu God Agni is that of both the individual will(of the embodied soul/created being)to connect to God and will of God(Creator) Himself.

Basically the will to connect to God is what closes the gap between us and God, that is to say a feeling of separateness.(which is why Hindus bring a plate of fire/Agni between them and the idols of the "Gods")

Which(feeling of separateness between you and God) can be remedied through intense, passionate and pious, extensively long periods of worship throughout your life.

You must have the desire to seek out God and the insistence to attain Him. This is crucial.

The will to connect to God is the yearning and longing of the soul to connect to God, and is what draws us closer to God and enable us to come into contact with God, it is what makes us realize God and prayers successful along with devotion(pressing of the Soma). It is the indispensable quality of the soul that is first and foremost necessary to even truly worship God and is present in all types of prayer without which there is no attainment of God by the soul. The intensity of which results in the degree of closeness in attaining God. True connection stems from even the slightest desire to sincerely turn to God. No prayer is ever wasted. As every prayer is dear to God.

The strong magnetic pull towards God of the soul is the hottest, brightest, fiercest Agni/flame. The most committed of worshippers, who always want to be in tune with God from the moment they sleep to the moment they rise.

The individual will is an expression of the soul, which is what allows the soul to perform activities. And the ability to connect to God depends upon the strength of the soul in striving to link itself to God.

"increasing in thine own abode"

The entire universe is the will of God expressed/manifest. So when the individual will connects to God wanting God to reveal Himself(and God acts according to His Will obviously) through his worship of Him. It as if there is unity between the individual will and Divine will.

Fire/Agni symbolizes "will" and "willpower".
