This 'Dimple Maker' device was created in 1936 by Isabella Gilbert of Rochester, New York. In an advertisement for the machine, those desiring the facial indentations were urged to use the device for five minutes at a time, two or three times a day, which Gilbert said would 'result in a fine set of dimples.'
