lets break this topic, and in order to break it we need to look into some biology infact our biology, lets take a human face (without skin)
as you see we are composed of muscule everywhere, but how they work and how they reshape on our skull????
so in the case of hollow cheeks there are 2 TYPES
1HOLLOW CHEEKS CAUSED BY ZYGOMATIC BONE & MUSCULE
AND
2HOLLOW CHEEKS CAUSED BY masseter muscle
1. hollow cheeks caused by zygomatic projection are often very hard to see if its not under lighting or some sorta of light source because, they arent muscules, they are just bones which does not create any attriction to themselfes unlike bones, example
as you see in the drawing, lighting really makes all the effects for high set and big thick zygos since light curves to curved spaces, like cheekbones and it will create a hollowed look. and if lighting is not present you will end up with just big cheekbones and small hollowed look, live example
even tho ehren now has well trained masseter and lean mass all around his face, in this picture we can notice that his gonials are smaller then his zygos and so like in my drawing it wont show any hollow look, unless under lighting (same ehren example)
see.
2. hollow cheeks caused by masseter
unlike big zygos, masseter can cause an stronger hollow look because they are muscules, and they tend to attach eachothers to skin and bone leaving zero space for liquids or fat, infact by attaching eachothers to bone it will create "Lines" in your face which tend to follow a more squareish or linear look unlike zygo hollow cheeks who follow a more angular and triangulated path
example:
lighting in this case wont change much since your muscule alr do the work for you.
now a live example
devan who facial muscules are very strong and unlike ehren you can still see the hollow look even with bad lighting or none.
so HOW TO ACHIVE??
Hollow cheeks = a combination of:
So hollow cheeks are NOT just about “losing weight.” They're a mix of bone, fat loss, muscle tone, and skin.
Buccal Fat Removal (Bichectomy)
Best exercises:
Training makes the face tighter, more sculpted, and can slightly reduce cheek width by tone.
You can’t build bone directly — but you can:
Avoid creatine if you're bloated easily — can cause face puff in some people.
If you want fast, extreme or permanent results:

so HOW TO ACHIVE??
Hollow cheeks = a combination of:
- Low fat in the buccal fat pad (deep cheek fat)
- A strong underlying bone structure (zygomatic bone / cheekbone & jawline)
- Tight, developed buccinator and masseter muscles (muscles under cheeks and jaw)
- Thin skin + low inflammation
So hollow cheeks are NOT just about “losing weight.” They're a mix of bone, fat loss, muscle tone, and skin.
NATURAL REDUCTION:
- Get to 10–12% body fat (males) or 16–18% (females) — this is when facial fat starts really dropping.
- Maintain stable insulin and cortisol — they influence fat storage in the face.
- Avoid high sodium + alcohol ➔ less facial bloating.
SURGICAL OPTION:
Buccal Fat Removal (Bichectomy)
- Removes fat pad from inside your cheek.
- Creates instant hollow look, especially if your bone structure supports it.
- Not ideal for everyone — if your face is already slim, this can look “sunken” or age you faster.
3. Train the Facial Muscles Strategically
Target the buccinator muscle (inside cheek wall)
Best exercises:
- Cheek Suck-in Holds – fish-face holds (20–30 sec × 5 sets)
- Cheek Press Against Towel – press cheeks inward while resisting
- Cheekbone Pulses – flex/squeeze cheek area actively
Also build masseter muscle:
- Towel Clench Training or Mewing with Resistance
- Strong jaw muscles = sharper facial angles + compresses cheek volume upward
Training makes the face tighter, more sculpted, and can slightly reduce cheek width by tone.
4. Maximize Bone Visibility (Zygomatic and Mandible)
You can’t build bone directly — but you can:
- Highlight cheekbones by losing fat and toning surrounding tissue
- Use mewing (tongue posture) to push maxilla forward over time
- Consider zygomatic implants or fillers (for surgical enhancement)
5. Supplement Stack for Facial Definition
Supplement | Purpose |
---|---|
Collagen (Type I & III) | Supports skin tightness and facial structure |
Zinc + Magnesium | Regulates hormones ➔ lower water retention |
Vitamin C | Boosts collagen synthesis |
Ashwagandha | Lowers cortisol ➔ reduces bloating/inflammation |
Creatine (low dose) | Can increase definition if muscles are trained |
Hydration + Electrolytes | Reduces puffiness and supports skin tone |

6. Lifestyle & Skin Tightness
Tip | Effect |
---|---|
Sleep 7–8h, consistent schedule | Reduces puffiness |
Low-carb mornings | Flatter face, less insulin-related bloating |
Cold face rinses or gua sha | Improves lymph drainage, tightens skin |
No dairy or sugar | Less inflammation = sharper features |
Dry fasting (short-term) | Can rapidly “shrink” face for photos/events |
7. Surgical + Aesthetic Procedures (Advanced)
If you want fast, extreme or permanent results:
Procedure | What it does |
---|---|
Buccal Fat Removal | Removes cheek fat permanently |
Zygomatic Implants | Enhances cheekbones for natural shadow |
Jawline Implants | Sharpens overall facial definition |
Thread lifts | Lifts sagging tissue for hollow look |
RF Microneedling (Morpheus8, etc.) | Tightens skin + melts small fat pockets |
Realistic Expectations:
- Some people naturally have more cheekbone projection, so the hollow look appears earlier.
- Thin skin + bone support = best combo.
- Hollow cheeks CAN be achieved non-surgically, but it takes low fat, strategic training, and tight skin.
