Something happened on TikTok a couple months ago. The initial DL stuff brought nowhere near as much as there is nowadays, although it was ridiculous; a more prolonged large gradient instead of all at once.

It goes up and down. Some of them will be undisclosed bots scraping the site, but otherwise it looks like most of them are legitimate users. Statistically speaking it's more normal to have more guests than users viewing a site; or at least it's sign of a site's activity health, because a lot of people on the internet are lurkers. Even users who do make accounts end up only being lurkers long term.

The increase/decrease rarely means anything long term, especially as a daily metric, it's normally why sites will look at activity in chunks (monthly, 3 months or 6 month chunks).

This is correct though, I feel like an increase of users who are joining up recently have stated they found the site off of TikTok. Which has always been normal, but I feel like it's been a lot more recently. I don't know what happened on TikTok though or if something went viral.

No idea. I remember in 2022, we had that 1k spike because of Salludoncels. After that, it was entirely TikTok; something recently brought a huge amount of people to the site just observing and presumably making accounts. It was allegedly TikTok. I bet it was some IT post going viral on TikTok about this site. Lol.
