Throughout the Simpsons seris Homer is constantly angry and technological advances and how the city of Springfield is changing.
He states through the show how much he is disgusted by Mr Burns and the power plant he works at. There’s very compelling evidence that the reason he is so bad at his job is because he secretly hopes the nuclear reactor will have a meltdown, resulting in a nuclear energy free Springfield.
He also states throughout the show he wants to go out and do something like really do something similar to Travis Bickle. He’s likely planning some active terrorism against the city of Springfield to bring peace to the surrounding environment.
