The Ashvamedha (Sanskrit: अश्वमेध, romanized: aśvamedha)[1] was a horse sacrificeritual followed by the Śrauta tradition of Vedic religion. It was used by ancient Indian kings to prove their imperial sovereignty: a horse accompanied by the king's warriors would be released to wander for a year. In the territory traversed by the horse, any rival could dispute the king's authority by challenging the warriors accompanying it. After one year, if no enemy had managed to kill or capture the horse, the animal would be guided back to the king's capital. It would be then sacrificed, and the king would be declared as an undisputed sovereign.

Simple really.

As Kshatriyas we are supposed to stand our ground and fight till death. Oppose any challenger that comes in our way.

I mean if you're predominantly Rajasaic you will be determined to fight no matter the odds.

It's a shame and a disgrace for a Kshatriya to decline a challenge or run away from the battlefield.

Indeed being a true Kshatriya means expanding as much as possible.

I had plans to bring back this tradition with my caste but maybe with MMA or metal swords/stick fighting instead.

The horse running is a gamble because you don't know where it will go, but you girdle up and get to business.

A true Kshatriya is ready to fight no matter the odds or consequences. "I wear my heart on my sleeve".
