At some point physics became less about understanding reality fundamentally and more so describing it
For example when physicists wanted to find a relativistic Schrödinger equationthey first arrived at the Klein Gordon equation.
But found it unsatisfactory because it contains a double time derivative. So you would need to know the initial wave function and its derivative to use the equation
Diracs equation on the other hand doesn’t contain a double time derivative but it predicts negative energy solutions.
So phycisists rushed to interpret why these negative energy solutions meant. Dirac proposed the Dirac sea(which has fallen out of favor)
But the point is physics is filled with these interpretations now. The math works but the fundamental understanding isn’t there.
Physics has fallen. It’s
